An Inside Look at Wedding Flower Pricing
The journey of wedding flowers
Flowers are a luxury.
Many of the wedding photos you see on Instagram or Pinterest are filled with the most expensive flower varieties: Peonies, Davis Austin garden roses, ranunculus, sweet peas, lily of the valley and Phalaenopsis orchids. These weddings often feature dreamy flower-filled designs that require a high investment. Flowers are a luxurious part of weddings, and in our opinion, a necessity to create a romantic ambiance for weddings. With our experience, we can help guide you to make flower choices that will be impactful and make the most of your wedding floral investment.
You are receiving a personalized service with custom pieces.
The creative process starts when we meet with you to discuss your floral and decor vision. We then create a customized proposal based on your personal style and vision. Approximately 6 weeks before your wedding, we will start putting together the floral recipes for each piece and determine the number of stems/bunches required to fulfill your order.
Due to the unpredictability of Mother Nature and supply chains, we sometimes need to make last-minute substitutions. With our extensive knowledge of flowers and experience, along with our relationships with suppliers, we can make substitutions that ensure your wedding flowers are absolutely stunning.
The cost covers your floral designer’s experience, skill and time.
Our Floral Design team has many years of experience and has completed hundreds of weddings. We are continually learning new skills, design techniques and trends. We will likely spend 60-80 hours or more planning, designing and producing your wedding flowers. This includes:
Consultation time discussing your floral vision
Creating the floral recipes with your desired varieties and colour palette
Placing a pre-order for your flowers
Personally picking up the flowers from our suppliers to ensure the quality meets our high standards
Cleaning and disinfecting buckets and vases as well as preparing all supplies
Processing the flowers so they are hydrated and open to their full potential on your wedding day. Typically 3-4 days before your wedding, we pick up your flowers from our suppliers and bring them back to our studio to be processed. We clean each flower of leaves and thorns, give them a fresh cut, and place them into buckets of water and solutions to help them hydrate and open. With a team of 3-6 people, this can take anywhere from a couple of hours up to a full day.
After allowing the flowers to hydrate overnight, we start designing your flowers. We plan out our week so that we create the pieces that will hold up for a few days first, and the more delicate pieces are made closer to the wedding day.
Packing them for safe transportation and delivery
Set up and styling at your venue
The cost includes delivery and set up/installation and styling of your flowers.
On the morning of your wedding, our team will start carefully packing your flowers for safe delivery to your venue. Large installations are often designed on-site and can take our floral design team anywhere from 2-6 hours and this does not include time to touch up or place out other floral arrangements or decor pieces. At the end of the setup/installation, we clean up and remove all of our mess and empty buckets, ladders, etc.
At the end of the night, our takedown team will return to the venue to collect our rental items and any flowers that are left at the venue. Back at our studio, we remove the flowers from the containers for composting and clean and sanitize all of the compotes, vessels and buckets used.
